FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. What is a Derma, Skin or Micro-Needling Roller and how does it work?
The dermaroller is an instrument consisting of a heavy duty plastic roller head covered in high quality titanium needles. The needles are designed to penetrate the stratum corneum, which is the hard outer surface of the epidermal layer of the skin, body or scalp. Hundreds of tiny channels are created through the stratum corneum, which facilitate the passage and absorption of your skin care product, or minoxidil for hair restoration into the dermis, to maximize its absorption. It gently exfoliates excess skin cells which contribute to hair follicle malnutrition, scaring or premature aging, and ultimately hair follicle failure, wrinkles, stretch marks, cellulite and scars. The roller stimulates blood flow to the surface, gives a skin massage, cleans out the pores and stimulates collagen re-growth.
Q. How should you roll?
With your free hand , hold the area that you want to treat, putting slight tension to it and roll the Dermaroller gently over the skin. 4 times vertically, 4 times horizontally, 4 times diagonally to the left and 4 times diagonally to the right. The whole process should last about 5 to 8 minutes.
Q. Is it ok to use the derma roller if I have skin fillers injected already in my skin?
Yes it is okay to use the dermaroller over skin fillers.
Q. Can I use the skin roller on my face if I have active acne.
No it will make the acne spread.
Q. Do you have to use a cream or product with the roller?
After rolling, use a good quality product (cream or serum), as after rolling the skin will be able to absorb 84% of that product - compared to 4% without skin needling. The roller facilitates tiny channels/holes for it to literally go into the skin - painlessly. Skin care products used after rolling are extremely beneficial. You can use Vitamin C, Collagen or a high quality, vitamin enriched active ingredient moisturizer.
Q. How long to see results?
All skin is different so we can't give a definite time frame but as you roll your skin will feel lighter, tighter and brighter almost immediately. If you are treating scars or wrinkles you will see results each week as the skin changes and collagen re-grows, then after 1-3 months there will be deeper results.
Q. Can I use a skin roller when breast feeding or pregnant?
It is best not to use a dermaroller when pregnant because the body needs all of its vitamins to feed the baby and the production of new collagen actually uses some vitamins, thus, it is not advisable to use the dermaroller at this time.
